Getting Started ​

Overview ​

This guide picks up after installation. By the end you'll have a licensed theme, working permalinks, and a populated demo site (or an empty canvas, if you'd rather start from scratch).

Prerequisites: the Converto theme is installed and activated. If not, see Installation.

Initial Setup ​

Converto registers custom rewrite rules so product URLs follow /category-slug/product-slug/. WordPress only flushes those rules on Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes, so this step is mandatory even if your structure is already "Post name".

  1. Settings → Permalinks.
  2. Pick Post name (recommended).
  3. Click Save Changes - you don't need to change anything, just save.

Skipping this step

Without saving permalinks once after activation, product pages 404 and /visit/{slug}/ affiliate redirects break.

Step 2 - Activate your licence ​

  1. Theme Settings → License in the WP admin sidebar.
  2. Paste your licence key from the KrafterSuite dashboard.
  3. Click Activate.

Step 3 - Choose your starting point ​

You now have two paths:

A. Run the demo importer (recommended for first-time users). The wizard creates a category, taxonomies, products, an optional author, a homepage, and nav menus in one shot. Five minutes from zero to a fully populated site you can edit. → Demo Importer guide

B. Start from scratch. If you'd rather hand-build everything, skip to:

  1. Taxonomies - set up your categories, rating categories, features, and specifications first.
  2. Products - create your first product.
  3. Affiliate links - add the destinations your CTAs and pricing rows link out to.
  4. Hero and Blocks - build the page templates.

Even if you start from scratch

Run the demo importer once on a staging site to see how the data fits together. You can wipe it with the Delete Demo Data button afterwards.
